Turning a historical gem into an innovative university campus

Providing Foresight : Urbanism and THE FUTURE OF LEARNING

client: NEXITY

The Hôtel de l'Artillerie is a historically-listed building, laying vacant despite its prime location in the heart of the St-Germain-des-Près neighbourhood in Paris. An architectural competition was launched in 2017 by its new owner Sciences Po, the leading French university in political and social sciences, looking to develop a compelling proposal for the reconversion of this site into an innovative campus.

Our mission focused on identifying major future trends in higher education, from to lifelong learning to digital integration, and depicting how these could shape the future of this historical gem. We gathered an exceptional team of philosophers, cognitive scientists, start-ups and ergonomists in order to establish a holistic and vanguard proposal. The Street Society led the "Prospective Pole" within the team, alongside architect Alain Moatti and property developer Nexity.
